Recently, a friend of mine told me that he is sick of taxes, tolls and big government in Maryland but has no problem with same-sex marriage. This is a common view among many fiscal conservatives and young Americans. But the belief that government can be socially liberal while being fiscally conservative is completely unrealistic as it is a statistical fact that states that are socially liberal are always fiscally liberal. In order for conservatives to be ultimately successful, in Maryland and across the country, we must embrace true conservatism; which is both fiscal and social. We must work together to defeat same-sex marriage if we ever hope to have a conservative government in Maryland.
